2012 Letter

Dear Lake Burton resident,

My name is Hal Rhoad and along with my wife Page, we are second generation homeowners on Lake Burton, now full time residents. For 30 years I have annually organized a professional fireworks display for the enjoyment of Lake Burton resident families, guests, and the Rabun County community. With your help, let’s collectively have a great evening of fun and celebrate America’s 236th Birthday!

Last year was difficult for our family and many others as we endured tornado damage and rebuilt our lake home. However, it was an unexpected high mark for fireworks contributions with $35K donated! The generosity of this community in support of this event is certainly encouraging and gratifying. Thank you all very much!  Individual contributions from our supporters are the only source of funds for this fireworks show; there has never been a corporate sponsor.  Many thanks also to the LBCA, our Volunteer Fire Departments, the Mountain Patrol, and Georgia Power.

The 2012 show is a step up from the last few years thanks to your generosity. We will have a $30K show from Pyrotecnico with total expenses around $35,000.  Full financial disclosure of income and expenses is archived on our website, www.lakeburtonfireworks.com under the Financials tab.

We are requesting a donation of $50/family but are appreciative of whatever you choose to send. You can donate through the website with a credit card via Paypall or send us a check per below.

Our mailing address is:
Lake Burton Fireworks
5805 State Bridge Rd
Suite G 238
Johns Creek, GA 30097

This year’s show will be Saturday June 30th, 2012.  Always 9:30PM off Billy Goat Island.

Our rain delay policy is that we delay the show up to 1 hour before deciding if we have to go to Sunday night July 1st, 2012. The set up, storage, and shooting crew issues make it very difficult to go to the following Saturday night.

Pyrotecnico, New Castle, PA www.pyrotecnico.com is again our show producer. They are one of the largest producers or fireworks displays in the world. They are fully insured via a $10M general liability policy and have an excellent safety record.

Let me again emphasize the importance of boating safety during this event. Please, treat the lake as a NO WAKE ZONE the evening of the show. Slow down and enjoy the ride. Also, stay back from the shooting site at least 900 feet to avoid falling embers from the shells. Check your lights, life jackets, and fire extinguisher before idling to the show site.

Promotional assistance from the following organizations is really appreciated:

Lake Burton Civic Association, Linda Dixon, President
West Rabun Property Owners, Charlie Brundage, President
Lake Burton Road Runners Club, sponsors of the Lake Burton Fun Run, founder Robert Nichols

Don’t forget to visit our Facebook fan page, www.facebook.com/lakeburtonfireworks and leave a comment or send us a photo of your family celebrating the 4th of July on Lake Burton. Also, consider sending us an email at info@lakeburtonfireworks.com so that we may add you to our email list and work toward going paperless in the future.

Thanks again for your generous support! Have a safe and memorable summer on beautiful Lake Burton!

Hal J Rhoad,  Lake Burton Fireworks
